Ham and Cheese Sliders

Ham and Cheese Sliders - I'll just start off by letting you know that this is the 3rd time I have made these...they are PINTASTIC!!!

Here is the original pin I pinned:

Oven Baked Ham and Cheese Sliders YUM! - I love these! I am asked for this recipe all the time!
Oven Baked Ham and Cheese Sliders YUM! - I love these! I am asked for this recipe all the time!

So here is my process:

I used Rhodes Rolls and let them thaw and rise (you won't see homemade rolls from me - probably ever)

I did double the recipe this time (the last two times I just made a dozen), but here are the rolls all baked and ready for the makeover!

These are the ingredients for the inside of the rolls (the filling).
Mix the Mayo and the Salad Dressing together - equal amounts.

These are the ingredients for the outside of the rolls (the dressing).
The above is how much I use for 12 sliders, so I double it for 24 - my family likes things dripping and oozing with the good stuff!

Arrange the rolls on a large cookie sheet, cut them open, spread on the mayo/salad dressing mix, then stuff them with the ham and cheese.

Brush the dressing over the tops of the rolls - lots and lots of it!

Cook them in the oven and OH MY!!! they are delicious!!!

I am so glad I pinned and gave this one a go, because it is a regular at our house now.
Super inexpensive and super duper easy to make.

So YES, this is a PINTASTIC pin!

Inside Out Chocolate Strawberries

My first review might as well be on one of the first food pins I ever pinned.  I started Pinning last year during my husband's cancer treatments.  There were many, many, many LONG days at the hospital and Pinterest was one of the ways I passed the time.  I enjoy chocolate covered strawberries so when I saw this pin I said, "Hey, a new take - I need to give that a try".

Inside out Chocolate filled strawberries! never thought to set them up in an egg carton while the chocolate dries! And another plus is you don't have to worry about the chocolate cracking off the outside when you bit into it!

This pin comes from pincookie.com and this is the description that went along with it:

"Inside out Chocolate filled strawberries! never thought to set them up in an egg carton while the chocolate dries! And another plus is you don't have to worry about the chocolate cracking off the outside when you bit into it!"

The Process

I started with strawberries, an egg carton, and my favorite chocolate chips (Kroger).  The only "fancy" tool I had was the strawberry de-topper, or whatever it's called.  A note on the egg carton - I washed mine, I have heard that raw eggs aren't what we should worry about as far as e-coli, it's what's on the actual egg shell.  Who knows if that's true, but I didn't want to take the chance of any transfer onto the strawberries.  I also cut the top/lid off of the carton.

I then thoroughly washed my strawberries and weeded out any not worthy of the task - there was only one.

I used my "fancy" tool to take off the stems and core them.  I didn't cut the tops of the strawberries right off like the original pin showed, maybe they would have looked prettier.

I melted my chocolate chips in the microwave.  I know they have special chocolate for these types of things, but I used what I had on hand, and I always have chocolate chips.

Then I filled up the strawberries using just a spoon - again nothing fancy.

Here is what they looked like once I got them all filled.  Not as pretty as the pin, I know.

I let them sit in the fridge for 2 hours before I checked on them, they were definitely set at that point.

I wanted to dissect one, just because.  I don't know what I thought I would see other than a solid chunk of chocolate, which there was.

Biting into one wasn't as great as biting into a regular chocolate covered strawberry.  The solid chunk of chocolate was a bit hard to get through, but again, maybe if I used a chocolate made for this type of dessert it would have had a different result.

Overall, of course it was good - how could it not be?  But I don't think I would do it again.  I would rather just dip my strawberries in chocolate and call it a day.  But if you are looking for something a little different or want to try a different take on the chocolate covered strawberry, go ahead and give it a go, it's easy enough and you can't go wrong with either chocolate or strawberries.

Have a Pintastic Day!

The Beginning of Something New!

So I got to thinking this morning of how I could make my life busier, don't we all do that sometimes? We are always so crazy busy, why not add to it, right?  Well, a week or so ago, I decided to try out a few recipes off of my Pinterest board (there's only 100's of them on there); one turned out FANTASTIC, the other was a total FAIL.  That's when my thoughts turned to "why not blog about your adventures with pins?"  I seriously have so many pins on my boards and they just sit there with me thinking, "One day I'll give that a whirl".  Well, maybe that day is here!  Maybe it's time to just give them all a try, not all at once of course, and find out if they are Pintastic or a Pintrosity (I take no credit for that term).  Maybe once a week I will try something out specifically to blog about it - it could be food, crafts, cleaning, who knows, maybe even a beauty tip.  This will serve two purposes 1. To actually DO something about my pins and 2. To maybe give insight to those of you who have also pinned the same thing and aren't sure if it's worth your time/effort.  This whole idea just may be a total FAIL, but I'm going to give it a go and see what happens.  Stay tuned for some exciting times!
